Dale's brother, Hal, and his wife, Elissa, had invited us to join them and other members of the extended family for Thanksgiving Dinner, and we were delighted to accept their kind invitation. We always have fun spending time with all of them, so we were very much looking forward to some delicious food and quality family time as we braved the traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike and headed north. The usual 1 1/2 hour drive took twice as long, but we knew that would be the case. We had already planned to spend the night in order to avoid having to deal with that traffic twice in one day. (That was a wise decision because we breezed home on Friday morning with nary a slowdown, and I made it to Pottery Barn for my Black Friday shift with time to spare.)
When we arrived at Hal and Elissa's beautiful Short Hills home, we found football on the new flatscreen TV in the family room, yummy appetizers, and the rest of the family gathering. The group eventually grew to include Elissa's parents, Norman and Gail Shaw, Dale's sister, Beth, and her husband, David, our nephews Brian, Aron, Abe, Austin, Chase and Devon, and Hal and Elissa's housekeeper, Linda, and her husband Brian. Elissa and Linda had worked much of the week to prepare an absolutely delicious dinner, and we all ate more than we should have. However, isn't that part of what Thanksgiving is all about?

We certainly realize how much we have to be thankful for this year, and at the top of that list is family!
