"On Saturday, the 30th of August 2008, Katherine Ardith Filiberto, a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Cosmo Filiberto, and Ryan Richard Fibiger, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fibiger, were united in marriage at St. Andrew Catholic Church on Block Island, Rhode Island. Father Paul Carrier, S.J. officiated.
Bridal attendants were Lauren Meris Filiberto, sister of the bride, Maid of Honor, and Michael John Fibiger, brother of the groom, Best Man. Bridesmaid was Kelley Fibiger Nash, sister of the groom, while Christopher Cosmo Filiberto, brother of the bride, served as Groomsman.
Serving as Ushers were John Egan, Justin Keaner, John Briar, Mauro Rossi and Kyle Gordon, friends of the bride and groom. Friends Katherine Gulotta, Rachel Gold and Michelle King served as Readers.
Following the ceremony, a dinner-dance reception was held in a party tent on the grounds of The Sullivan House. The happy couple danced their first dance to "At Last", first recorded by Etta James.
Additional parties included a rehearsal dinner given by the parents of the groom at their Block Island vacation home, a welcome cocktail party for all wedding guests following the rehearsal dinner at The Spring House Hotel, a beach bonfire on Scotch Beach following the reception, and a post-wedding brunch on Sunday at Smugglers Cove in New Harbor.
The newlyweds will live in New York City following their honeymoon in Tahiti, Bora Bora and the Napa Valley of California. "
The weekend was incredibly fun with gorgeous weather*, LOTS of lively partying, tons of laughs, excellent company, old friends reconnecting and new friends made, delicious food and drink, and a most wonderful setting. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed Block Island as a celebration destination, and for those of us new to the island, an extra dimension of fun was added because we had an amazing new place to explore. Our heartfelt thanks to Katherine and Ryan, Cos and Mary, Shelley and Richard and everyone in attendance for a beautiful wedding, an excellent time, and a hope for many, many more celebrations in the future!
*It only rained on Saturday, the wedding day, but there is that old Italian proverb: La Sposa Bagnata, La Sposa Fortunata...The wet bride, the lucky bride!
