On the hottest day of 2009 to date, Penn Club Lacrosse was scheduled to play their final game in the division playoffs, and we were there at Franklin Field to cheer them on. Chris E. had invited us to be among the families and fans at the game, and we were delighted to comply with his wishes. Penn's opponent was Princeton, their absolute archrivals and a team that had handed them their only defeat of the season. This final game was an excellent one with Princeton going out initially 6-1 and then Penn bringing the game to an exciting 6-6 tie. In the end, Princeton prevailed 7-6 in a real heartbreaker. Chris was absolutely fantastic on defense throughout the game, and he should hold his head high for a job well done despite the "agony of defeat".

After dinner on the patio for the first time in absolute months, we wandered up to Philly Flavors on Fairmount for a much savored water ice. There is nothing like water ice to end a 90 degree day and a weekend that brought a real taste of the hot summer to come. 
I actually ordered Cherry and Tangerine, but Dale's Kiwi and Lime was a better match for my outfit!
