Yesterday we joined Mark, Janet, Jim, Lois and Lois' daughter Laura in Manayunk for the Manayunk Brewfest. This annual event held at the Manayunk Brew Pub with its massive outdoor deck on the banks of the Schuylkill attracts over 50 microbreweries from around the area and even from as far afield as San Diego. It also attracts a huge crowd. Under the ridiculously hot sun of yesterday afternoon, it was easy to taste lots of delicious ice cold beverages on tap and even easier to become rather inebriated, as many people did, including all of the people I asked to take group photos. Even if they seemed sober, they clearly were not. All of my photos had to discarded due to chopped off heads, missed angles, and blurriness among other flaws. Sorry. We had a great time at the festival, but we decided that we were clearly the oldest people there by a good 20 years or more! That won't stop us from planning to attend again next year, however :-)
We had to be careful with how much beer we tasted because we were due in Short Hills, NJ by 7:00 to attend the Milburn Middle School production of "Oliver!". Nephew Chase Harrison was appearing as The Artful Dodger, and we could not miss his performance. He was masterful as usual, and we thoroughly enjoyed the show. It played to a packed house in a very hot auditorium. Everyone was complaining about 'schvitzing' in the heat, as you readers can imagine. Hal and Elissa had seen the show on Friday evening, however Bubbie was there, having just flown up from Florida earlier in the day. We ended the evening with a late egg supper at the Milburn Diner and did not get to bed until well after midnight.
April 26 was Bubbie's 84th birthday so we joined most of the entire family including Hal and Elissa's two French student visitors, Clem and Guillaume*, for brunch at The Broadway Diner. Chase was missing from the group because of a soccer game as were Abe, Brian, Andrew and Aron. After our yummy brunch, David left to fetch Chase in order to get him to the theatre in time for his 1 PM matinee performance. Hal and Elissa took the French boys to Manhatten for touring, and Austin went to work on his Eagle Scout project. Beth decided that the rest of us should go and have some fun in the sun and flowering beauty of Taylor Park in Milburn. It was beautiful there, and although Bubbie is getting around slowly after her broken hip earlier this year, she certainly enjoyed her day outside with us and her low-key birthday brunch celebration. This time the photos came out just fine!
