I am actually one of those people who totally looks forward to Winter. Winter brings the solstice holidays with all of the lights and color and good smells and bustle and excitement that those special days have been bringing to humanity since the beginning of time. Call it Christmas or Hanukkah or Kwanzaa or even Saturnalia?, there is nothing like bringing light and fun and gifts and feasts to the darkest days of the year. Let those parties begin!
In fact, this morning the sun did not come up until almost 7:30 AM, and I had to turn on the front light at 4:15 PM. I definitely call that a short day, and my window candles, mantle lights, and multi-color tree lights definitely bring a touch of extra brightness to our slightly "dodgy" end of Brandywine Street.

Winter also brings ski season, and if you know us, you know how much we love that!!!!!
In fact, this photo was taken in Steamboat, Colorado on Dec. 4, 2011. Yes, we have already hit the slopes this year. We joined Mark, Janet, Ken and Marty for an extravagant but totally worth it early season weekend at Steamboat, and as Dale said, "It exceeded my expectations by 1000 %!"
Can't wait for our next big family and friend trip to Whistler, BC in a mere 15 days! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
